Sauna & Pool is a private sauna with sea views and a pool at Stegesundsvägen 63 in Vaxholm, on the water just north of Vaxholm town. The sauna and the pool each take up to six guests at a time, so the whole group can switch between the heat and a swim. The session includes light snacks – crisps, olives and fresh vegetables with dip – and, if there are children in the group, Swedish sweets. There is a toilet and a shower on site. Stockholm By Boat offers it as a private two-hour session, and as a package with a private motorboat and a licensed captain, with about an hour's ride each way and two hours at the sauna. The sauna is open seasonally; in 2026 it is available from 1 April to 7 November. Its location makes it easy to combine with a visit to Vaxholm. Destination Vaxholm says the town received its town charter in 1647 and grew up on the island of Vaxön, opposite the fortress. Gustav Vasa ordered the fortress in 1548 to guard the entrance to Stockholm, and it turned back a Danish attack in 1612 and Russian forces in 1719. The present citadel, Kastellet, was built in 1833–1863 and now houses Vaxholm Fortress Museum, which shows the fortress as it looked in 1854. A cable ferry runs to Kastellet from Strandgatan in the town centre. From the late 1860s and well into the 20th century, Vaxholm was a popular seaside resort, with cold and hot bathhouses for summer guests from Stockholm. Today the harbour front has restaurants, cafés and shops. If you travel without a private boat, Waxholmsbolaget's boats from Strömkajen take about an hour to Vaxholm, and SL bus 670 from Tekniska högskolan takes about 50 minutes. From Strandvägen, Båtturistguiden's distance table gives about 11 nautical miles to Vaxholm, and Stegesund is about one nautical mile further north, so we estimate the route at about 12 nautical miles. Cruise time is about 50 minutes at 15 knots in a motorboat and about 1h 30min at 8 knots in a yacht.
