Ornö is the largest island in the southern Stockholm archipelago, about 15 km long, in Haninge municipality. Kyrkviken is the island's service hub, with the church, school, community hall, library and a restaurant. In summer there is also a beach bar, a bread shop, bike and kayak rental and the Ornö Museum with its museum café. Ornö church, designed by Ludvig Hawerman in Swiss chalet style, was built in 1883–86 after the previous church burned down in 1881, and stands on a height above Kyrkviken. The Swedish Sea Rescue Society has a rescue station in Kyrkviken. Around 30 km of trails cross the island, including a stage of the Stockholm Archipelago Trail, and the Sundby nature reserve lies in the south. There is a guest harbor and petrol at Kyrkviken, where the kiosk sells ice cream, sweets and milk. Ornö Båtvarv in Brunnsviken has a second guest harbor with 15–20 berths, showers, toilets, a sauna, a small grocery, a café and bike rental. A car ferry runs from Dalarö in about 30 minutes, a bus runs from the ferry to most of the island, and in the summer half of the year Waxholmsbolaget calls at Ornö Kyrka from Stockholm and Dalarö.
