Rökeriet is a restaurant on Stora Fjäderholmen in Fjäderholmarna, which Visit Stockholm calls Stockholm's closest archipelago island. It serves Swedish classics and seafood, and today puts its own smoked products, prepared on site, at the centre, cooked with Scandinavian, seasonal ingredients. Fjäderholmarna has been a popular outing for centuries: Rökeriet says the first sea inn opened here in the 1600s, that the "Vodka King" L.O. Smith sold spirits on the islands in the 1880s, and that the military ran an ammunition factory here during the Second World War. The restaurant is a short walk from the jetty, with views towards Ängsholmen, and its outdoor terrace gets sun all day and looks out over the inlet to Stockholm, so you can eat while the boats go by. In the summer months there is also a deli and an ice cream kiosk. Rökeriet hosts weddings, conferences and parties, and serves a Christmas buffet, julbord. The restaurant season runs from 1 May to 13 September, and the 2026 julbord from 20 November to 20 December, so check the website before you go. Scheduled boats also run to Fjäderholmarna: Strömma from Strandvägen and Nacka Strand, and Fjäderholmslinjen from Slussen in summer, and Waxholmsbolaget calls at the islands. From Strandvägen, the route east past Djurgården and Blockhusudden to Fjäderholmarna is an estimated 3.5 nautical miles. Cruise time is about 15 minutes at 15 knots in a motorboat, and about 25 minutes at 8 knots in a yacht. Those are estimated cruise times at those speeds, not a scheduled departure, and the actual time depends on traffic and conditions on the water.
