Strandbryggan, 5 minutes
Strandbryggan sits on pontoons at Strandvägskajen 27 by Djurgårdsbron, a few hundred metres along the same quay as the charter jetties. It started in 1989 as a boat rental and beer café, and after a full renovation in 2023 it reopened as Strandbryggan Boat Club, a Mediterranean-style restaurant with an upper floor and views over Strandvägen and Djurgården. Expect grilled meat, seafood, salads and vegetarian dishes and a cocktail bar. The booking page states 23+ and a smart casual dress code. It works best as the first or last stop of a day on the water.

Restaurang J, 15 minutes
Restaurang J is a brasserie on the quay at Nacka Strand, looking out over Blockhusudden on Djurgården. The kitchen is rooted in Scandinavian cooking with seasonal produce from sea and land. The dining room is open all year, while the Veranda towards the fairway and the summer bar on the quay are summer spaces. Hotel J says guests arriving by their own boat can moor at the jetty by the restaurant, space permitting.
Rökeriet on Fjäderholmarna, 15 minutes
Rökeriet is on Stora Fjäderholmen in Fjäderholmarna, a short walk from the jetty. It serves Swedish classics and seafood, with its own smoked products prepared on site, and the outdoor terrace gets sun all day while the boats go by on the inlet to Stockholm. In summer there is also a deli and an ice cream kiosk. Our motorboat page puts a Fjäderholmarna trip at about 3 hours with dinner.

The Old Smokehouse, 25 minutes
The Old Smokehouse is a wood-fired barbecue restaurant in Lännersta, Saltsjö-Boo, with views over Lännerstasundet. The route runs east past Djurgården and through Skurusundet, about 6 nautical miles. The kitchen combines American BBQ with Swedish smoking traditions, from ribs and pulled pork to smoked seafood and vegetarian dishes. Tables on the heated terrace cannot be booked, so it is first come, first served, and the restaurant has its own jetty with about ten mooring places on buoys.
Middle archipelago: lunch on an island
Grinda Wärdshus, 1h 15min
Grinda Wärdshus is the inn in the middle of Grinda, in a summer villa built in 1906 for Henrik Santesson, the first managing director of the Nobel Foundation. The terrace looks out over Saxarfjärden, and the inn says its focus has always been genuine Swedish archipelago food. You can eat and stay here. Grinda has two jetties, and the walk to the inn takes about 10 to 15 minutes, past a nature reserve that is worth time of its own.

Grundet, 1h 20min
Grundet is a red sea tavern with bed and breakfast on Rögrund, a small island on Nämdöfjärden at the edge of the outer archipelago. It serves rustic food with a touch of Nämdöfjärden. Lunch is drop-in, booking is recommended for dinner, and the terrace faces the sunset. It is open every day in high summer, from late June to mid-August. Visiting boats can moor at the berths next to the tavern, but not overnight.
Motorverkstan Bistro & Bar, 1h 30min
Motorverkstan is a summer bistro and bar in an old boatyard on Djurö, by Djurhamn, where guests sit out on the jetty. It has two jetties where sailboats and motorboats, large or small, are welcome to moor. Motorverkstan is open every day from Midsummer Day until the school term starts in August, and recommends booking a table; booking opens on 1 June.

Svartsö Krog, 1h 30min
Svartsö Krog is at Alsvik on southern Svartsö, among the pines with its own jetty directly below the restaurant. Places cannot be booked, but there is usually room. The season, the best ingredients and the best producers decide the menu, and you choose between four-course menus and à la carte. The restaurant also runs Svartsö Logi, glamping tents by the beach from May to September.
Ingmarsö Krog, 1h 40min
Ingmarsö Krog is a red waterside restaurant on southern Ingmarsö, with lunch, dinner, a bar and drinks on the jetty in the evening sun. Diners can use the restaurant's jetties during their booked sitting, and there are four mooring buoys for boats of 2,000 to 6,500 kg. Jetty places cannot be booked, and the guest harbour is about 200 metres away.

Sandhamn: two historic restaurants, 1h 50min
Sandhamns Värdshus
Sandhamns Värdshus traces its history back to 1672, when the first inn on Sandhamn opened. The pub is open all year and serves classics such as S.O.S. (butter, cheese and herring), a fish and shellfish stew and the house Värdshusbiff. The upstairs restaurant looks out over the harbour and is open every day from mid-June to mid-September.
Seglarhotellet
Seglarhotellet has its restaurant in the former clubhouse of the Royal Swedish Yacht Club, KSSS, inaugurated by King Oscar II in 1897. The menu includes classics such as seafood, lightly salted salmon and grilled meat, and lunch and dinner are served every day, all year round. The KSSS guest harbour, with around 150 guest berths, lies right in front of the hotel.

Tips for a restaurant trip by boat
- Check opening hours first. Many archipelago restaurants are only open in summer, and some change their hours through the season.
- Book where you can. Grundet recommends booking for dinner and Motorverkstan recommends booking a table, while the terrace at The Old Smokehouse is first come, first served.
- Plan the time on the water. Sandhamn is 1h 50min each way by motorboat, so the round trip alone is 3h 40min.
- Choose the right boat. A motorboat reaches the middle and outer archipelago faster. A yacht gives a slower pace and suits closer restaurants such as Rökeriet, Restaurang J or The Old Smokehouse.
