Seglarhotellet, officially Sandhamn Seglarhotell, sits on the harbour in the village of Sandhamn on Sandön, in the outer Stockholm archipelago, and has been part of life on Sandhamn for more than a century. Its restaurant, Seglarrestaurangen, is in the former clubhouse of the Royal Swedish Yacht Club (KSSS), inaugurated by King Oscar II on 9 July 1897 in connection with an anniversary regatta. Since chef Thomas Omfors took over the kitchen in 2020, food has had a central place at the hotel. The menu starts from both the guests' wishes and the history of the place, with classics such as seafood, lightly salted salmon and grilled meat; local produce is bought when possible, food is cooked from scratch and the bread is baked in-house. Lunch and dinner are served every day, all year round. The hotel's restaurants and bars include Segelsalen, a classic dining room with the sea as its closest neighbour, a bistro, Seglarbaren with a bar, dance floor and DJ, and the Terrace, with evening sun and a view over the harbour. In summer the wine bar in the orangery opens with small plates, and the sommeliers' wine list mixes classics with choices for the curious. Hotel guests have breakfast included and free use of the spa, pool and gym. The KSSS guest harbour, three pontoon jetties with around 150 guest berths, lies in front of Seglarhotellet and is open from the last weekend of April to the last weekend of October; 20 berths can be booked in advance through Dockspot. From Strandvägen, the route out through the archipelago to Sandhamn is an estimated 28 nautical miles. Cruise time is about 1h 50min at 15 knots in a motorboat, and about 3h 30min at 8 knots in a yacht. Those are estimated cruise times at those speeds, not a scheduled departure.
