A multi-day yacht charter in the Stockholm archipelago means you live on the yacht for the whole trip. You sleep on board, wake up in a new bay, and spend the days island hopping between the islands you want to see. You can stay from 1 night up to 14 nights, add a private chef and a jet ski, and we take care of all the bookings around the trip, so the only thing you need to plan is how to enjoy it.
Below you will find how an overnight yacht charter in Stockholm works, island hopping ideas with our own travel times from Strandvägen, what you can add to the trip and which yachts in our fleet have cabins on board.
What is a multi-day yacht charter in Stockholm?
On a day charter you return to the city in the evening. On a multi-day yacht charter, the yacht is your floating base: your group stays on board overnight, and the trip continues the next morning. It is the closest thing to a liveaboard yacht in Stockholm, with a licensed captain on board, so nobody in your group needs a boating licence.
The Stockholm archipelago is made for it. East of the city, tens of thousands of islands, islets and skerries stretch out towards the open Baltic Sea, from the busy inner archipelago near Vaxholm to quiet nature reserves and old fishing villages further out. One day is enough for a taste. Several days let you see how different the islands really are.
Sleep on board: from 1 night up to 14 nights
You choose the length of the trip, from a single night to two full weeks. One night is perfect for a birthday, an anniversary or a weekend away from the city. A few nights let you reach the outer archipelago without rushing. A week or two turns the trip into a real holiday at sea, with time to stay longer wherever you like it best.
Every night is spent on board. You fall asleep to the sound of water against the hull and wake up with the archipelago outside the window.

Island hopping in the Stockholm archipelago by yacht
Island hopping is included in a multi-day charter, and it is what makes the trip such a great experience. Instead of one destination, you string several together: a swim stop in the morning, lunch on one island, a walk on another and a quiet anchorage or guest harbour for the night.
These are some of the islands we like to combine. The times are estimated cruise times from Strandvägen at 8 knots by yacht, as on our destination pages. They are not scheduled departures.
| Island | Part of the archipelago | By yacht from Strandvägen | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vaxholm | Inner | 1h 25min | Fortress, harbour town |
| Grinda | Middle | 2h 25min | Nature reserve, swimming, Grinda Wärdshus |
| Svartsö | Middle | 2h 45min | Gravel roads, lakes, Svartsö Krog |
| Ingmarsö | Middle | 3h 10min | Sheltered guest harbour, village store |
| Nämdö | Middle | 3h 15min | Car-free island, guest harbour at Solvik |
| Sandhamn | Outer | 3h 30min | Sailing village, Trouville beach |
| Möja | Outer part of the central archipelago | 3h 40min | Village life, several guest harbours |
| Utö | Southern | 4h 10min | Old iron mines, Gruvbyn |
A northern loop: Vaxholm, Grinda, Svartsö and Ingmarsö
Head out past Vaxholm and its fortress at the inner entrance to the archipelago, then on to Grinda, a nature reserve with beaches and the inn Grinda Wärdshus. From there, Svartsö and Ingmarsö lie close together in the middle archipelago, with Svartsö Krog and Ingmarsö Krog for dinner by the water.
Towards the outer archipelago: Möja and Sandhamn
Möja has village life, walking and cycling, and several guest harbours. Sandhamn is the old pilot and customs village on Sandön, home waters of the Royal Swedish Yacht Club, with Sandhamns Värdshus and Seglarhotellet for a long dinner after a day on the water.

South: Nämdö and Utö
Further south, car-free Nämdö has a guest harbour, a store and a bakery at Solvik, and Utö has the old mining village Gruvbyn and the iron mines in its nature reserve.
Many island restaurants are seasonal, so we check opening times when we plan your route. For more ideas, see our guides to the best islands in the Stockholm archipelago by boat and Stockholm archipelago restaurants you can reach by boat.
A yacht charter with a private chef in Stockholm
A private chef is available for your trip. Lunch underway between the islands and dinner at anchor in a quiet bay are a very different experience from searching for a table ashore. Our private chef service cooks modern Nordic menus with fresh seafood from the archipelago, and the menu is built around your guests and your route.

Add a jet ski to the trip
A jet ski is available too. It adds a little speed to slow days at anchor, and it is a fun way to explore the bays and sounds around the yacht. Tell us when you book, and we will include it in the plan.
We take care of all the bookings around the trip
Planning several days in the archipelago can mean a lot of bookings. We take care of all the bookings around the trip, so you do not have to. Tell us what you would like to do, eat and see, and we put the whole trip together.
Which yacht for an overnight charter?
Several yachts in our fleet have cabins on board, among them Lovisa, Moa, Vera and Julia. Lovisa has a flybridge with a panoramic view of the sea and the islands, and together with the captain and hostess you are free to tailor your route. Moa has a generous flybridge with a 360-degree view and a height-adjustable bathing platform, perfect for swim stops. Vera has large sun decks and a bright salon with panoramic windows. Each boat page has photos and the boat's details, and we will suggest the right yacht for your dates and group.
How to plan your multi-day yacht charter
Send us a booking request with your dates, the number of nights, the size of your group and the islands you are curious about, and tell us if you would like a private chef or a jet ski. We will come back with a route and a plan. You can also reach us through our contact page.
Prefer a shorter trip? A two-hour tour on one of our classic wooden boats in Stockholm is a calm way to see the city, and our one-day itineraries in the Stockholm archipelago show what you can do in a single day.
